MISSION STATEMENT: At St David’s, we believe in consulting pupils on matters that affect them and involving them in school decision-making.
Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) states:
“Parties shall assure to the child who is capable of forming his or her own views the right to express those views freely in all matters affecting the child, the views of the child being given due weight in accordance with the age and maturity of the child.”
We want pupils to know that their opinion matters and is heard, and we want pupils to be given the opportunity to be responsible for different aspects of their school life and have an impact on how the school is run.
As a staff, we value the opinions of the pupils. By giving the pupils a voice, they will feel empowered to become active participants in our school community. Through our Decision Making groups, pupils are able to develop personal, social and communication skills through the many pupil roles that are offered.

The selection process for Captains is well underway!
A large number of pupils have chosen to put themselves forward for these important roles. Candidates will be interviewed by Ms Gilmore and Mrs Thompson along with a whole school voting process. All the children are representing themselves very well. There are lots of great ideas and these will be picked up as the year progresses.
It is important that we recognise the achievement of all those who are completing the process, we are proud of all the Primary 7 pupils!
