St David's ELC Day
Monday-Thursday Friday
ELC starts: 8.30am ELC starts: 8:50am
Finish time 3.00pm Finish time 12.30pm
ELC session begins at 8.30am. Please bring your child to the ELC door where a member of staff will greet you. We actively encourage our parents/ carers to come in to setting and to participate in the broad range of Stay and Play offers across the year. Session times run:
· Monday to Thursday 8.30 – 3.00
· Friday 8.30 – 12.30
Collection
In the event of a parent/ named adult not collecting their child at the end of the day the setting’s procedure are as follows:
· the child stays with a member of the ELC staff (and then goes through to the school should it run beyond 4pm)
· the school will contact the parent/carer or the emergency contacts listed in the child’s school record (these contacts are the only adults the school is able to hand over the uncollected child)
· if these attempts to have the child collected fail then Children’s Services will be called and will assume responsibility for the child until the parent can be located
In addition
· if your list of emergency contacts changes please inform the school as soon as possible (including mobile number and address)
· it is acceptable to write a list of other parents/carers with whom you have an agreement to collect your child after school should you be late – please give this to the ELC team
· if your child attends a childminder or their arrangements for the end of the day change, please email or call the school office and speak with a member of the ELC team
Sometimes other parents/ carers offer to take the child. Although this is always offered in the spirit of goodwill and seems a sensible solution, the school cannot allow this unless the parent/carer has given their permission. ELC staff will always ask the office to check the emergency contact list and will not allow you to help in this way unless they have the parent’s/ carer’s permission. Please do not ask school staff to allow you to take another parent’s child.
Absence
Regular attendance at the ELC setting is strongly encouraged. If you know in advance that your child will not be attending the ELC setting an email should be sent to communicate the reason for the child’s absence. In cases of emergency or short notice, please phone the school office in the morning on 0131 271 4675 to report your child’s absence. You will receive a phone call from the school office asking for an explanation if you have not informed the school. This is Midlothian Council’s policy, implemented for the safety of the children. Should we have a concern about your child’s attendance, we will speak with you.
Please do not bring your child to the ELC setting if they are unwell. Please see our website for NHS Lothian guidance of recommended periods of absence e.g. 48 hours after the last episode of sickness or diarrhoea.
Bikes and Scooters
If your child comes to school by bike or scooter, these should be parked in the bike and scooter bays in the school playground. We recommend a lock to secure these.
